Legal
Privacy policy
Effective 13 October 2026
Your images and 3D models never leave your device. pEdit has no accounts, ads, analytics, crash reports or tracking. Everything you open, edit, bake or export is processed on your own computer, and we never receive it.
The only personal data involved is your IP address, which any computer shows when it connects to the internet. GitHub sees it when pEdit checks for updates or you download it, Cloudflare when you visit pedit.dev and, on some Windows computers, Microsoft during installation. If you email us, we see what you send.
1. Who is responsible
The controller is Argado Digital AB, org. no. 559439-2341, Östra Torggatan 15, 652 24 Karlstad, Sweden. Write to oliver@argadodigital.com with any question about this policy. We don’t have a data protection officer, because we aren’t required to.
2. What is processed, and why
Using pEdit
- Data
- None leaves your device. Settings, recent-file paths, custom themes and presets are stored on your computer.
- Who gets it
- No one. It never reaches us.
- How long
- Until you delete it or uninstall pEdit.
Theme share codes are made on your computer too. The code contains the theme itself, and nothing is sent to us or anyone else.
Update checks
- When
- When pEdit starts, every 4 hours while it’s open, and when you choose Help → Check for Updates. You can turn the automatic checks off with Help → Check for Updates Automatically.
- Data
- Your IP address and the technical header
User-Agent: tauri-plugin-updater/2.13.2. No app version, operating system, device ID or other identifier is sent.
- Why
- To tell you about new versions and security fixes.
- Legal basis
- Our legitimate interest in keeping pEdit secure and up to date (GDPR article 6(1)(f)).
- Who gets it
- GitHub, Inc. (USA), which hosts the update files. We receive nothing.
- How long
- Under GitHub’s own policy.
Downloading pEdit or an update
- Data
- Your IP address and the technical data any download involves.
- Why
- To deliver the software.
- Legal basis
- Legitimate interest (article 6(1)(f)).
- Who gets it
- GitHub, Inc. (USA).
- How long
- Under GitHub’s own policy.
Updates are downloaded only after you click Update, and pEdit checks their signature on your computer before installing them.
Installing on Windows without WebView2
- Data
- Your IP address and the technical data of the download.
- Why
- To install Microsoft Edge WebView2, which pEdit needs on Windows. Windows 10 and 11 usually have it already, and then nothing is downloaded.
- Legal basis
- Legitimate interest (article 6(1)(f)).
- Who gets it
- Microsoft Corporation (USA).
- How long
- Under Microsoft’s own policy.
Visiting pedit.dev
- Data
- Your IP address, browser type, the page you ask for and the time.
- Why
- To serve the website and protect it from abuse.
- Legal basis
- Legitimate interest (article 6(1)(f)).
- Who gets it
- Cloudflare, Inc., which hosts the website for us.
- How long
- We don’t keep or read server logs. Cloudflare keeps technical logs for a limited time under its own policy.
To show the newest version, the page also asks GitHub’s API which release is the latest, and the download buttons fetch the files from GitHub. For those requests your browser sends your IP address and browser type to GitHub, Inc. (USA), on the same legal basis.
Emailing us
- Data
- Your name, email address, message and any attachments.
- Why
- To answer you.
- Legal basis
- Our legitimate interest in answering questions (article 6(1)(f)).
- Who gets it
- Google Workspace (Google Ireland Limited), which runs our email on our behalf.
- How long
- 24 months after the conversation ends, unless we need it longer for a legal claim.
3. Cookies
pedit.dev sets no cookies and uses no analytics or similar tracking. The fonts and videos come from this site, not from other companies. If Cloudflare needs to tell people from bots, it may set a strictly necessary security cookie (__cf_bm or cf_clearance). Such cookies need no consent under the Swedish Electronic Communications Act (2022:482, chapter 9, section 28).
4. Transfers outside the EU
GitHub, Cloudflare and Microsoft are US companies, and Google, which runs our email, may also process emails outside the EU/EEA. These transfers rely on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework (the European Commission’s adequacy decision of 10 July 2023), under which GitHub, Inc., Cloudflare, Inc., Microsoft Corporation and Google LLC are certified, and where relevant on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses in their data processing terms.
5. Your rights
You have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- have it corrected or deleted;
- restrict how it’s processed;
- object to processing based on legitimate interest (article 21).
In practice we hold almost nothing about you: only emails you’ve sent us. For data held by GitHub, Cloudflare or Microsoft, you can also contact them directly. Write to oliver@argadodigital.com, and we’ll answer within one month.
You can also complain to the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection, Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten (IMY), Box 8114, 104 20 Stockholm, imy.se. If you live elsewhere in the EU, you can complain to the authority in your own country.
We make no automated decisions or profiles about you.
6. Their own policies
7. Changes
If pEdit ever starts handling data differently, for example by adding analytics or crash reports, we’ll update this policy before the change ships and show the new date at the top. Significant changes are also mentioned in the app’s update notes.
