pEdit

Photo & texture editor

Edit photos, make seamless textures and bake high-poly detail into game-ready maps. Free for Mac and Windows, and only 2.6 MB.

01 / Find

Any tool,
one keystroke
away.

Press ⌘F and type what you want to do. Return runs it.

02 / Effects

Hover to preview.
Still editable.

Outlines, glows, bevels and long shadows from a preset gallery. Text keeps its effects while you change it.

03 / Vector

Paths,
not pixels.

Text and shapes keep their outlines, so pEdit redraws them whenever you scale them. Edges stay sharp at any size.

04 / Textures

Seamless textures,
previewed in 3D.

Seam Check scores where a texture won’t tile and Fix Seams blends the edges. Press P to see it as a live material with normal, roughness and AO maps.

05 / Game-ready

Straight into
your engine.

Slice sprite sheets and export PNG + JSON. Save DDS in BC7, BC3 or BC1 with mipmaps, and see the GPU budget before you ship.

06 / Built-in baking

Bake 3D models
where you texture.

No separate baking app, no round trips. Load high and low poly as FBX or OBJ, push the cage where detail sticks out, and bake normal, AO and curvature on every core. Then see it under studio light, daylight or your own HDR.

07 / Themes

An editor that
looks like yours.

Dark, Light, Midnight, Vivid, Dracula, Nord and Solarized. Or generate one and share it with a code.

08 / Lightweight

All of this
in 2.6 MB.

Smaller than a typical photo you’ll open in it. Builds for Apple Silicon and Intel Macs, and for Windows 10 and 11.

Which Mac? Apple menu → About This Mac. “Chip: Apple M…” means Apple Silicon. Windows needs Windows 10 or 11.

First launch

macOS asks once

pEdit isn’t notarized by Apple yet, so the first launch needs one extra step.

  1. Open the .dmg and drag pEdit into Applications.
  2. Open pEdit. When macOS says it can’t verify the app, click Done.
  3. Run this in Terminal, then open pEdit again:
    xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/pEdit.app
Or open System Settings → Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway.

After that, pEdit opens normally and keeps itself up to date.
